Your laptop dies on a deadline day. Your MacBook screen cracks during a flight. Your kid spills a smoothie on your work computer. We've seen all three this month — and most of those laptops left the shop alive.
Laptop repair is a different beast than phone repair. The components are larger but more interconnected, the diagnostics take longer, and the repair window is wider. We do all of it at our East Orlando shop on Semoran Blvd: Mac and Windows, screen swaps, battery replacements, charging ports, RAM and SSD upgrades, virus removal, and board-level microsoldering when the failure is on the logic board itself.
What we fix on laptops
Most laptop problems fall into a handful of buckets:
Cracked screen — usually a same-day or next-day fix. We stock common MacBook and popular Windows laptop displays, or order what's not on hand.
Won't turn on — could be the battery (replaceable), the charging IC (microsoldering), the power button (board-level), or the motherboard (varies). We diagnose first.
Battery won't hold charge — MacBooks are rated for around 1,000 cycles, Windows laptops vary. Below 80% health usually means noticeable performance drops. Most batteries are replaceable in 1–2 hours.
Charging port loose or dead — often pocket lint, sometimes physical damage to the port itself, sometimes the charging IC on the board. We clean first, replace if needed.
Liquid damage — the honest answer is "depends on what spilled and how much." We disassemble, ultrasonic-clean, dry, and assess. Sometimes a full save, sometimes partial (data recovery may be possible even if the device can't be fully restored).
Slow performance — often an SSD upgrade or thermal paste replacement. After 3–4 years on a laptop, thermal paste dries out, fans overwork, performance throttles. Both are affordable upgrades that extend laptop life by years.
Keyboard or trackpad failure — Mac and Windows are handled differently. Mac butterfly keyboards are particularly notorious. We have replacement assemblies in stock for common models.
Why local repair matters for laptops
Geek Squad, Apple Store, and chain repair services all have their place. But for a working laptop, getting it back fast matters more than chain-store polish. We don't ship your device anywhere — it stays at our shop on Semoran Blvd, you can stop by during the repair if you want updates, and most repairs are completed in 24–72 hours.
Macdroidstore offers a 1-year warranty on eligible repairs. If a covered repair fails again within the warranty period, we'll re-do it.
Microsoldering for laptops
Most local Orlando repair shops don't do board-level microsoldering on laptops. The MacBook logic board has tiny BGA components — power management ICs, USB-C controllers, GPU memory chips — that fail one at a time. Replacing the failed component is faster and cheaper than replacing the whole board, and it helps preserve your data instead of forcing a wipe.
We do this in-house under a stereo microscope with hot air rework. It's the same skill we use on phones, applied to bigger boards.
Honest expectations on turnaround
Some repairs are same-day (screens, batteries on common models). Some are 24–72 hours (board-level, ordered parts). Some are "we'll know after diagnostics" (water damage, intermittent failures). We tell you up front before you commit — no surprise fees, no vague promises.
